Structure of UPSC SCRA Exam
The UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination conducted in two stages. The first stage includes the written test with objective questions carrying 600 marks and the second stage includes the personality test with 200 marks. The written examination consist of three papers,

Eligibility Criteria
The aspirant must be an Indian resident with at least 17 years of age. The candidates below the age of 21 can apply for the examination. The minimum education requirement for the examination is higher secondary with Mathematics as a compulsory paper with Physics or Chemistry as optional. The physical fitness of the candidates is also required.
How to Apply?
The candidates can download the form of Special Class Railway Apprentices’ from the official website of UPSC. The form can be obtained by post by sending the request to the given address for application form. While sending the form the candidate needs to keep the DD of the set amount along with the required postal stamp with the request letter.
How to fill the Form?
The information bulletin obtained along with the Common application form carries the instructions of filling up the application form. The offline applicants need to read the given instructions and follow the direction while filling the form. The candidates can use only the black ball pen for filling up the application form and darkening the bubbles. The aspirant should give the correct information as per the official records and should attach the needed documents along with the filled form. The online applicants can see the instructions in the website and print out of the completely filled form should send to the UPSC examination centre along with the attachments and DD before the final date.

Eligibility:- Candidates who possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned or in the related
subjects or subjects specified by the Department with not less than 55% marks/ B
+
(B Plus) grade
of this University or equivalent degree of any other Indian or Foreign University recognized by
this University are eligible to apply for the Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of
5% marks is allowed as per UGC guidelines in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST
communities. Students who have M.A.Degree in English/Hindi/Malayalam/Sanskrit and
Comparative Literature and Linguistics can apply for Interdisciplinary course in Translation
Studies.  Those candidates awaiting results can also apply.  However, such candidates shall
produce their P.G. marklists and qualifying certificates within three months from the date of
admission. Failure in the production of marklists within that period will lead to the automatic
cancellation of their admission.
Related subject: Related subject can be in any discipline having some converging issues with
the native subject offered by the department concerned.  Candidates seeking admission from a
related subject can be admitted only if his/her research is of an interdisciplinary nature.  The
Research Committee of the department will ensure it.
Age Limit:- Age limit for admission to Integrated M.Phil.-Ph.D. programme is fixed at 35.  The
applicants shall not have crossed the age of 35 as on the date of notification granting exemption
to teachers working in Universities and aided/Govt. colleges and to Direct Ph.D. candidates.
Admission:- Admission to the Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. programme shall be on the basis of an
entrance examination and interview conducted by the University. UGC/JRF qualified candidates,
teachers of Universities and teachers of Government and Aided Colleges with a minimum of 2
published works in referred research journals and candidates with M.Phil. are exempted from the
entrance examination. UGC NET/SLET candidates are not exempted from the Entrance Test. In
each subject there shall be a rank list prepared, based on the marks secured by the candidates at
the entrance exam and interview conducted by the research committee of the academic
department concerned.  Admission shall be made from the rank list.
Those candidates who possess the M.Phil. Degree of this University with B+ grade or
equivalent M.Phil. degree of other Universities recognized by the University and who want to
register for the Ph.D. programme can seek direct registration for the Ph.D course, subject to their
fulfilling the other relevant conditions.
The application form and prospectus for the Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. programme can
be had directly from the office of the Campus Director, Main Centre, Kalady on payment of
Rs.50/- or by post on request to the Campus Director, SSUS, Main Centre, Kalady, Pin-683 574,
Ernakulam District with a self addressed stamped envelop of Rs.10/- and a D.D. worth Rs.50/-
drawn in favour of Finance Officer payable at UBI, Kalady. The application form and

Such candidates shall pay the application fee of Rs.50/- by DD along with the filled in
applications.

Eligibility:
Candidates seeking admission to the Course should have passed the qualifying Examination at the time of submitting applications. The minimum qualification for admission to the Course is a Second Class Master’s Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 55% marks, subject to the usual rules of relaxation for SC/ST students.

Application forms for admission to the Course can be had from the Heads of Departments concerned and from the Principal, University College, Thiruvananthapuram on request or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope, along with a chalan receipt/DD of Rs.25/- (Rupees Twenty Five only) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer,University of Kerala towards payment of cost of application form and Registration fee of Rs.150/- (Rupees One hundred and fifty only) in all Departments except in the Department of Futures Studies. Chalan/DD for Rs.150/- towards the cost of application form and Registration fee remitted together should be forwarded for obtaining application for admission to M.Phil Course in Futures Studies.
