Senior Lecturer in Politics/Contemporary History
Salary Grade 12 Salary range: £33,230 to £44,607 per annum  

The Department of History is a thriving and successful academic community.  It consistently achieves outstanding results in the National Student Satisfaction Survey and is regularly ranked in the top 30 departments in the UK (The Guardian); the University is ranked as one of the top modern universities.  The Department’s team is composed of active researchers who made a creditable contribution to the RAE 2008.

The Senior Lectureship is in Politics/Contemporary History (post 1945) and represents the first staffing for a new degree titled BA Hons Politics and Contemporary History that will start to recruit students through late 2012-13 and 2013-14.  It is expected that the post holder will work with the Head of Department to ensure validation of this degree before its first running in September 2013.

The post holder may research on any sub specialisms including Political extremism, Governance, British, European Politics or American Politics or interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary history.

We are looking for a high quality teacher and researcher who will be keen to assist in the shaping of this new degree programme and contribute to a culture of excellence in the management of student experience.
