The history of civil aviation in India starts from 18 February, 1911 when the first commercial flight operated between Allahabad and Naini. In this way
this is the centenary year of civil aviation in India. To celebrate centenary year under the auspices of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Pawan Hans Helicopters
Ltd. (PHHL) is conducting an essay as well as a painting competition at the National level. This essay competition & painting competition is a part of
the ongoing programs organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its undertakings. Original purpose of the essay contest is to review positively the
progress in the field of Civil Aviation in India where as the original purpose of the painting contest is to draw a positive picture of the progress in the
field of civil aviation in India All entries of the essay competition & painting competition should be submitted latest by 25 January, 2012. Topic of the
essay and other terms and conditions of competition are as follows:
Subject for Essay & Painting Competition – “Hundred years of Civil Aviation in India”
Eligibility for competition and prizes- To participate in this essay & painting competition all citizens of India are free (including employees of PHHL)
are eligible. The details of prizes are as follows:
(a) Following prizes have been determined for the essay competition: -

Word limits for Essay Competition - Upto 3000 words (Participants should indicate the number of total words at the end of the essay.)
Medium for Essay Competition –Entries for the essay competition written fully either in Hindi or English will be accepted.
Last date - January 25, 2012
Other Conditions:
1. Essays should be typed on A-4 size paper, with only one side margin or written in neat and legible handwriting. Participants can also send
soft copy of the essay (PDF format) on following e-mail ID: essay.competition@pawanhans.co.in
2. Painting should be on A-3 size paper.
3. Essay entries sent in Hard Copy need to be in three copies. If sending through E-Mail need not to do so.
4. On front page the details of the participants should be written i.e. Name, Designation (if you are employed elsewhere), Mother tongue, the
name of the office (if you are employed elsewhere), Address, Telephone Number and E-Mail ID.
5. Declaration as Citizen of India in the prescribed format should be sent with entry. In the event of the absence of such declaration, the essay
/ painting entries will not be considered.
6. The participants in the contest should send their essay / painting to the following address -

PHHL will not be responsible for essay entries misplaced in transit or received after January 25, 2012 and the same would not be
considered.
7. The results will be reported to the competition winners in due course. Participants are requested not to do correspondence in this regard.
8. Pawan Hans will have the right of first publication of award-winning essays. Pawan Hans will have the right to publish these texts in the
magazine, house journal or books. After the first publication of essays by Pawan Hans, award winners can get their essay published
elsewhere. Similarly for paintings Pawan Hans will have the right of first publication of award-winning paintings. Pawan Hans will have the
right to publish these paintings in the magazine, house journal or books. After the first publication of paintings by Pawan Hans award
winners can get their painting published elsewhere.9. Before announcement of the award participants should not send their essay for publishing elsewhere. After announcement the participants
who do not receive the rewards they can use their essay sending elsewhere. Similarly in the case of painting competition before
announcement of the award participants should not send their painting for publishing elsewhere. After announcement the participants who
do not receive the rewards they can use their painting sending elsewhere.

Evaluation –Evaluation of all the essays / paintings would be done by three independent judges separately and the results will be declared with the
consent of Chairman of the Jury on the basis of aggregate scores of all three judges. In case two participants are have equal scores final decision will
be of Chairman of the jury.
