    4. Thanks for your quarry. Most of the central universities have only full time courses, in which 6 month course work and 6 month dissertation writing. SO we need to sit in class room for six months. But some state universities are allowing students to do part time courses under condition of
. "Any person employed in any concern/organisation / institution, situated within the jurisdiction of the State of Tamilnadu / Research institutions recongised by Bharathiar University situated outside the state of Tamilnadu, after obtaining the Master's degree with a minimum of 50% of marks in the qualifying examination. Such candidates shall produce a no-objection certificate from the employer or head of the institution (in case of educational institutions)

ii. No temporary / conditionally appointed / guest lecturers in the University departments be considered for admission to part-time researchers in the University departments.

iii. Further conditionally appointed / temporary / Guest lecturers in self-financing courses in aided and Government Colleges / Recognised institutions be admitted as part0time researchers.
For example pls check the link:
      http://www.b-u.ac.in/academics/mphil_eligible.html

And if you wish to do M Phil in distance mode there are plenty of option.
But some universities allow students to do part time PhD.
